Speaker: Silva Chang
Seminar title: Flip, Turn, Slide
Patterns are all around us in nature, art, and our surroundings. Sometimes two patterns that look completely different actually share common features if you look closely enough. What happens when you flip, turn, or slide a pattern? In this talk, we will discuss ways to use math to describe shapes, designs, and patterns.

Silva Chang is a Teaching Professor in the Applied Math Department at the University of Colorado Boulder. She has been Co-Editor-in-Chief of the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 8 since 2018, and has contributed problems to the AMC 10/12. Silva is the founder and director of the Colorado Math Circle. She has coached the Colorado ARML Team and Colorado MATHCOUNTS Team. Professor Silva is also a member of the Board of Directors for the MathPath summer program.
